Ascension-Alignment Based Gravity Yoga Teacher Training
Go on an amazing jungle yoga retreat and emerge as an Ascension Gravity Yoga Teacher! This week long retreat includes 32 hours of Ascension Teacher Training. All instruction is Iyengar-based using alignment as the foundation. All students will be assessed and issued certification upon successful completion of the program. Woven into the retreat is plenty of time for jungle excursions, pampering spa treatments, and time to explore and enjoy Costa Rica.
Each day will consist of 2-3 hours of varied Ascension yoga classes including intro to the swing, yin, alignment, flow, strength, and restorative and 5-6 hours of lecture and practice of individual asanas. Each student will take and learn to teach the many types of classes that can be sequenced using the swing. The course will cover an endless number of postures, as nearly all yoga postures can be performed, aided and supported by the swing. The swing is a prop to aid in proper alignment so sequencing and teaching is varied and interesting.
You will learn about the contradictions to using the swing, precautions to take in teaching, tips for private coaching, instructing beginner-intermediate-advanced students with the benefits of yoga. All students will leave this retreat ready to teach their own Ascension Yoga class.

Your instructors for the week will be Rain, Kelly & Ted
Rain is a co-owner of Shanti School of Yoga, RYT 500 and an Ayurveda Specialist. She has been practicing yoga for eight years, has studied in Costa Rica, and is certified through Joyful Yoga and Yoga Alliance. She studied under Jackie Chiodo learning the classical path of the 8 limbs of Patanijali’s yoga sutras. Rain teaches Hatha yoga infused with the spirit of Raja Yoga.
Since becoming certified as a teacher Rain fell in love with Ascension – Alignment based Yoga and has become a foremost authority in the US. Rain is a devout student of BKS Iyengar as well as Ishaya meditation. She teaches teachers and studio owners the art of suspension alignment based yoga at Shanti School of Yoga and also teaches regularly abroad. Suspension yoga is an emerging trend in yoga and Rain has identified over 250 yoga postures that can be practiced supported by the swing. Rain teaches numerous Ascension yoga teacher training workshops in the US and internationally.
Rain is a yoga teacher that teaches with spirit. Her focus is on supporting her students to learn the 8 limbs of yoga, the chakras, Ayurveda and the study of self. Her mission is to support her students in the pursuit of individual peace, happiness and growth. She also teaches a variety of exercises and methodologies that support a positive yoga practice designed to create peace and personal well-being.
Kelly is a co-owner of Shanti School of Yoga, RYT 500, through Yoga Alliance, and an Ayurveda Specialist. Her mission is to empower students to find their own way. She believes there is a point in our lives that we just feel like there must be more. Whether it is to be a different kind of parent, spoue, friend, or to find what our life purpose is. It is the restless sound of our soul trying to wake us up! Kelly discovered this gentle whisper on her yoga mat. She came to yoga for purely physical reasons – she wanted a leaner, better looking body, but what she got from yoga was so much more than physical. She discovered peace, joy, fear, anger, frustration, love, compassion, tolerance, and complete acceptance.
Kelly has also been a dance fitness instructor for over 25 years with certifications in Aqua Zumba, Zumba Gold as well as Basic 1 & 2 Zumba. She has choreographed routines for local award winning body builders and currently offers coaching for the body, mind and spirit. Kelly believes that there isn’t a “master diet” that will allow the body to lose weight and become balanced. She can show you that every “body” is different and each craves balance through healthy food, exercise that is suited for you, and soul balancing.
Kelly studied under Jackie Chiodo learning the classical path of Raja Yoga, which is based on the 8 limbs of Patanijali’s yoga sutras, Ayurveda and Yin. Kelly brings a greater understanding of why different styles of yoga are so beneficial for everyone’s unique body. She also co-teaches the 200 hour Teacher Training with Jackie Chiodo, and is a lead teacher of the Ascension Alignment Based Yoga Teacher Certification. Kelly leads classes, workshops, retreats, and teacher trainings at her studio, statewide, and internationally in places like Costa Rica and Bali.
Ted is a RYT 500 and an Ayurveda Specialist. Ted received his 200 hour certification in Costa Rica, 2011 and he is certified through Joyful Yoga and Yoga Alliance. Ted also studied under Jackie Chiodo learning the classical path of Raja yoga, which is based on the 8 limbs of Patanijali”s yoga sutras, Ayurveda, and Yin. He has been married to Kelly Stiglich for 6 years and between the two of them, they have 5 children. His influences have been Jackie Chiodo, Paul Grilley, Bikram Choudary, Kate Evans, and his wife Kelly.
Ascension Yoga is NOT Arial Yoga!
While there are numerous postures in Ascension Yoga that allow you to float, swing, flow or fly, you will find that for the majority of the practice you are rooted and grounded to the earth practicing traditional yoga – while using the swing for added support to ensure proper alignment. Nearly every class that can be taught without the swing can be taught using the swing, including Vinyasa Flow Yoga, Yin Yang Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Power Yoga, Yin Yoga and Gentle Yoga. We use the Ascension Swing for support and alignment to create muscle memory, and to practice the same postures without the support of the swing in order to progress your practice more quickly.
