Workshop Series

Mind, Body, Soul

Yoga means union, aiming to connect the intricate facets of our human condition harmoniously – from the physical and sensory, the emotional and mental, and the spiritual and highest Self-realization.

This workshop series is designed to do just that; To align our three major dimensions: Mind, Body & Soul. Find equanimity in these three pillars. Witness how honoring all equally can lead to transformation and conscious living. Each individual workshop is $40, or $100 for all three.

Part One: The Soul

Break Up, Break Through: A Workshop on Breaking Boundaries

Building a yoga practice balanced in strength and flexibility means we must dig deep & search for any missing pieces. Most often we don’t need to look far as we are not lost, maybe just wandering a little off track. Break up with bad habit, break through boundaries and self-limiting behavior.

In this workshop we will learn how to truly develop a balanced practice. If you feel weakness you will learn how to cultivate strength. If you feel inflexible you will learn how to encourage mobility.
Here we will uncover the simple tricks to help us discover the path to breakthrough. We will discuss the most common yoga setbacks- mental-blocks, injuries & immobilities, and how to honor them so that we get the most out of our practice.

Bring your aspirational or most challenging asana and hop into the hot seat to examine how your pose reflects your habits, your posture reveals your patterns and how to determine your specific course of action.

Part asana lab, part personal exploration. Each participant will receive some one-on-one coaching from Abbe to meet individual goals. Workshop Length: 150 minutes

Part Two: The Mind

Body, Emotion, Fellowship: A Human Yoga Intensive

What are the physical manifestations of human emotion? How does the body react to loss, pain, or joy? Why do we give power to these emotions?

Uncover the importance of community and fellowship. Take your practice to a new level by learning to embody yogic principles that lead to conscious living and transformation. We have been collecting and refining our tools of practice, now it’s time to learn how to use them to heal the mind instead of only the physical body.

Join Abbé as she dives into the layers of what we take on every time we hit our mat.

Workshop is available to anyone with an existing yoga practice and a desire to examine the human experience. Workshop length: 120 minutes

Part Three: The Body

The Fundamentals of Flight: An arm balance and inversion workshop

Not only are arm-balances and inversions fun transitional tools to add to your practice toolkit, they are also important to finding a balanced asana practice. They challenge us mentally and physically by forcing us to slow down, find strength, courage and trust.

During this all level workshop we will build the basic framework for safe and sustainable inversions, specifically working with the anatomy and alignment in the shoulder girdle, core and bandhas. While exploring these elusive arm-balances we will focus on proper alignment and bone-stacking, training techniques and exercise drills to strengthen and open your body for inversion practice.

Each participant will receive some one-on-one coaching from Abbe to meet individual needs. Workshop Length: 150 minutes. Workshop is open to all levels of practice. Bring an adventurous spirit and a willingness to learn.

***Each individual workshop is $40, or $100 for all three.

Guest Yoga Teacher Cassandra Wilder N.D.

Cassandra Wilder is a Naturopathic Doctor, Herbalist and Retreat Leader that shares her wisdom of yoga, the Sacred Feminine and natural health all across the world. Passionate about women’s wisdom and yoga therapy, Cassandra leads Goddess Retreats across the United States and worldwide, inspiring and empowering people to live authentic, vibrant lives. She is honored to be teaching here at Anamaya Resort and to be a part of your beautiful experience here in Costa Rica.

Cassandra grew up in a small town in Utah and from a young age had an interest in natural health, the body and healing. By the age of 13, she had proclaimed to her family that she wanted to be a Naturopathic Doctor when she grew up and help men and women find wellness and balance. By 19, she had completed her first Yoga Teacher Training and began her studies at the University of Utah.

Before long, Cassandra found herself working a stressful corporate job as she tried to navigate through the steps to success she had been taught. She had a decent job, was about to graduate with her bachelors degree, had a nice apartment and lived in a beautiful city, and yet she felt emptiness.

After a relationship ending in a police report and court rooms, Cassandra found herself at her rock bottom. She knew she had two options: she could either stay disempowered and exhausted in her life or, she could begin to change her life and discover who she truly was.

Fortunately, she chose to change.

Immersing herself in yoga, mindfulness and meditation, Cassandra began to feel the light and joy within her return. Little by little, she began to heal herself.

About 6 months later, Cassandra felt called to visit Costa Rica to continue her healing journey and after a few months of resistance, she finally booked a yoga retreat at one of the most beautiful yoga retreat centers in the world – Anamaya Resort.

Throughout her week at Anamaya she began to feel a sense of empowerment and happiness she had never felt before. Spending a week at Anamaya gave Cassandra the support and nourishment she needed to begin to radically change her life.

Soon, she sold everything she owned, quit her corporate job, moved out of her apartment and left to travel the world with her partner Joseph. Exploring Central America, Southeast Asia and the Western United States, she began to discover her purpose and passion in this world.

After spending a few months in Guatemala, Cassandra began leading sacred women’s circles
around the world and later began leading them in Michigan where she was going to school. These circles later expanded into yoga retreats all across the United States and worldwide, providing hundreds of people with a safe and empowering space to heal, rejuvenate and grow. After finishing her schooling as a Naturopathic Doctor, Cassandra began to weave into her teachings the wisdom of health and wellness as well.

Known for her down to earth attitude and warmth, Cassandra holds a loving and supportive space to all who meet her. She is beyond honored to be teaching at this week long retreat in November and cannot wait to be a part of your journey!

Guest Teacher JIVANA

JIVANA (Janine Jordan) is a multi-dimensional being, playful spiritual artivist (art activist) and tantrika-yogini. JIVANA considers art a spiritual path, which includes of course, the art of yoga. With the idea that “I am Art”, JIVANA as an avant-garde yogini applies her philosophy of karma yoga to artivism and in addition to spiritual service to the world through embodiment, art, and action. She grew up in Southern California, and was always involved in some sort of dance or physical-art-movement. She graduated from the business school at the University of San Diego in 2002 and then moved to Hollywood.

She has been running a holistic environmental awareness non-profit for over a decade which includes several projects in the Southern Nicoya Peninsula: Futuro Verde environmental school, Karen Mogensen Reserve in Jicaral, Wild Sun wildlife rescue and release center, and now the Green Wave environmental show home. Interestingly, she attributes finding her yogic path and being empowered to start and continue her non-profit work to an art project she started in 2004 that revolves around the superheroine character and muse, Raver J. JIVANA uses writing, dance-performance art, digital media, and collaborations with artists to raise awareness about important issues, inspire people to feel empowered, and act selflessly to change the world.

JIVANA moved to Costa Rica with her husband two years ago and have built an eco-show home and mini-permacultural farm in Anamaya’s supporting eco-village, Rancho Delicioso. They occasionally travel to festivals and conferences to speak about their experiences.

JIVANA likes to share the path of the spiritual artivist and show people how they can tap into their inner superhero/ine. Through her upcoming fictional autobiography, JIVANA is pioneering rave culture literature, and hopes to inspire and continue to build a global community of artivists – peaceful, playful, poignant, warriors of the rainbow dedicated to transforming the world.

Teaching Philosophy

Through her karma yoga work, JIVANA is a living example and inspiratrix for others to lead a more conscious, intentional, beautiful, and blissful existence while balancing the call to help save the planet in their own unique and creative way. Her teaching is heart-centered, Earth connected and reverent. She will make you a superhero/ine. Her flows are slow-flow vinyasa based with kundalini breath work. The morning classes are strong but good for all levels. Her evening classes are gentle and creative. She teaches about self-love, gratitude, embodiment, and “off the mat” action through her asana classes, workshops, and private consultations. Her classes have been influenced by her teachers. JIVANA has studied with Ana Costa (San Diego of Anahata Heart Yoga), Psalm Isadora (LA, Tantra yoga), Peter Kaaberbol (Anamaya), and the extensive readings from John Lamb Lash (Gaian Tantra), Guru Rattana (Kundalini teacher of Yoga Technology) and Paramahansa Yogananda (Self-Realization Fellowship).

WORKSHOPS:  We are very excited to offer our guests three very special workshops this week. The first is Restorative Yoga, the second Barre.fit Yoga, and the third is Essential Oils. For more details please see below.

Guest Teacher Joni Hewitt

As a lifelong educator with passion and enthusiasm Joni brings her physical and emotional energy out of the classroom and onto the mat. She first discovered Yoga as a complement to her training as a marathon runner and triathlete, and as a supplement to her work as a group fitness instructor and personal trainer. In her yoga teacher training she was pleasantly surprised however to discover the deep healing power of Yoga through the amazing mind-body connection.  With focus on pranayama and mindfulness, Joni works with people of all ages and all abilities from beginners to seasoned Yogi’s.

A 200-hour Registered Yoga Alliance teacher (RYT), Joni completed her yoga teacher training from Sacred Seeds Yoga School in Southern Maine. As a certified Balanced Athlete Coach, she incorporates these fundamentals to offer Yoga as maintenance to one’s athletic activities. Working with high school athletic teams, she offers sports specific yoga practices showing athletes how the practice of yoga can help build core strength, encourage proper breathing techniques and increase focus.

Always training and learning, Joni went on to study the Barre method and with these principals created her own unique version of Barre.fit yoga with focus on the importance of body sustainability. Whether teaching Restorative Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, Barre.fit or Mindfulness practices, Joni’s passion for Yoga is contagious and her commitment to her students is always a constant.

Joni’s Philosophy

Joni considers the practice of yoga as an ideal form of self-care and wellness. She recognizes the value in living life with a strong connection between mind & body, and offers this awareness through teaching from this place of practice. Finding balance is the key! Knowing that it is not always easy, she shows her authentic self in the words she uses and in the teaching she offers.   Adhering to her belief that yoga is for everybody, she teaches to whomever lands on the mat in front of her and relies on her strong understanding of anatomy and proper alignment to offer modifications and gentle assists. Simply put, the main philosophy of yoga is simple: mind, body and spirit are all one and cannot be clearly separated.

Workshops

Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga is the experience of simply being. To yield is to surrender. In the practice of Restorative Yoga, we actively and consciously yield as we surrender our tension to the force of gravity relaxing and softening throughout the practice. It is a pleasant experience because for most of us letting go of tension brings great relief to our body and mind. This yielding is not about collapsing into each posture, instead we actively acquire a dynamic relationship with our surrounding, leaving us present to the softening of stress and tension and present to what might be revealed in the act of letting go. This practice activates the parasympathetic nervous system by deliberately slowing us down. As you incorporate a restorative practice you’ll notice optimal comfort and ease, steady breath, lowering blood pressure and heart rates, relaxing tension, and greater balance. Why wouldn’t you try it?! This workshop will be 75 minutes and $30 (or $80 for all three).

Barre.fit Yoga

Fusing traditional fitness techniques from Pilates, Calisthenics and Yoga, this unique Barre.fit yoga practice is an athletic workout specifically designed to strengthen the entire body while lengthening the muscles and increasing flexibility. Class begins with gentle moves designed to increase the heart rate and build heat.  Following the warm-up,  you’ll move through a series of upper body exercises and isometric moves before continuing to the barre movements with a lower body workout for your thighs and gluteus muscles. Participants are encouraged to work at their own level, modifications are offered as needed. Continue your practice with core-focused progressions, push-ups and planks on the mat.  End with a yoga flow of postures designed to re-stretch your muscles and complete your practice with Savasana. Enjoy your feeling of enhanced stamina & endurance, increased flexibility & calm and leave feeling even better than when you arrived! This workshop will be 75 minutes and $30 (or $80 for all three).

Essential Oils

The mind lives in the past and the future; the oils bring you back to the present.” Essential oils are an excellent addition to any natural and healthy lifestyle. Weaving essential oils into your yoga practice can deepen and expand your experience in new dimensions with just a few pure, powerful healing drops. Both simple and complex, learn how a single oil or blend can be used for a specific intended purpose, and at the same time address multiple aspects of healing the body, mind and spirit. In this workshop, you will learn more about the oils and how they can help you with particular aspects of your health and well-being. This workshop will be 75 minutes and $30 (or $80 for all three).

WORKSHOPS:  We are very excited to offer our guests a special 90 min Workshop this week called Smart Alignment for Peak Poses: Backbends and Inversions. For more information please see below.

Guest Teacher Miranda Viorst

Miranda has been a seeker of truth for the duration of her life, and a yogi for nearly as long. Her introduction to yoga was through a Nepalese mentor, who she met at age ten. From there, the path of yoga was her yellow brick road. On the way, she’s met a host of interesting characters, and studied under some of the world’s most incredible teachers in Costa Rica, India, Bali, and at home in Colorado. Miranda dances daringly along the edges of many spiritual traditions and lineages, from Ashtanga Vinyasa to Zen Buddhism to Shaiva Tantra.

Miranda dedicated herself to teaching yoga when she realized that it could save the world. A longtime social researcher and activist, she had found that many of our contemporary social and environmental issues come from a belief in separation. Yoga offered an alternative: that everything is connected. Miranda dreams of using yoga to create a world where people fall more deeply in love with the world around them. Where we are aware of the pervasive connections all around us, and celebrate those connections.

A certified RYT-500, Miranda shares her offerings in her regular classes in Colorado, as well as assorted trainings and workshops.

Teaching Philosophy

Miranda teaches with adoration and playfulness. Her creative vinyasa flows focus on allowing students to deepen into their practice with a dance-inspired grace. She weaves in the teachings of her favorite mystics, philosophers, and poets, to craft classes that allow students to get closer to themselves and more intimately familiar with both their perfections and their challenges.

With an emphasis on self-study, she encourages students to nurture spiritual growth through disciplined practice. She does all this with the sense of compassion, curiosity, and playfulness that she infuses into every class.

Workshop

Smart Alignment for Peak Poses: Backbends and Inversions

Many of us fall in love with the Yoga Practice for the way it makes us feel. When we move the body beyond what we thought was possible, our ideas of what our limitations are start to dissolve. We find ourselves feeling more open, more free, more in love. Backbends and inversions are “peak postures” – some of the most potent postures in the physical yoga practice. They are also often some of the most challenging postures to do safely.

In the paramount text on yoga practice, Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, Patanjali tells us “tatah dvandvah anabhighataha.” Translation: yoga makes the impossible possible. That’s the nature of this practice; to go beyond what we thought was possible.

This 90 min workshop aims to use safe, intelligent alignment to go beyond what we thought our limitations were. Incorporating ancient practices, modern philosophy, breath, movement, and games, we will use the practice of yoga not just to challenge our physical limits, but also to break down internal barriers and fall more deeply in love with the world around us and our daily lives. ***Price is $30

Guest Yoga Teacher Jacqueline Chiodo

JacquelineJacqueline Chiodo ERYT 500 began her yoga practice in 1995, after suffering from a neck injury. Initially, her practice served as a way to relieve physical pain, but within the first year, yoga also became a healthy and effective way to manage stress and emotional well-being.   At the age of 22, Jacqueline entered into the corporate world as an investment advisor and relied on her yoga practice as a way to reset her mind after a stressful day at the office.  The self-discovery that was made from her time spent on the mat helped her transition from the financial world into a full-time career as a professional yoga instructor and studio owner.  Her goal is to help others through yoga, giving back for all that yoga has given to her.  Jacqueline graduated with a degree in Religious Studies and minor in Finance, from Rutgers University. She currently co-operates Joyful Yoga and Spa with her family, since 2005, in SW Florida.

Through the past 20 years, Jacqueline has studied with many profound teachers of yoga, meditation and ayurveda and has cultivated a deep respect for all spiritual paths. Her style is based on Raja Yoga, or the 8-limbed path of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. She combines her knowledge of ayurveda and the chakra system with precise alignment, and breath inspired movement.  A contemplation or inquiry offered in each of her classes, creates a unifying awareness during the practice, creating an experience of yoga beyond physical exertion. Jacqueline’s teaching style encourages the heart and mind to become intimately involved with the movement.  Profound emotional and energetic connections are made through the awareness of each energy center or chakra the practice is designed to awaken. The class themes are inspired by daily life, nature and silence.

According to Krishnamacharya, “yoga should be practiced according to the unique constitution (ayurveda) of the individual and should therefore be adapted to lifestyle, age and stages of life.  One system is not appropriate for everyone at all times.”  Taking this into consideration, Jacqueline is able to teach a broad range of practitioners, from kids to seniors and everyone in between, her style can be adapted and modified by all ages and life stages.

Jacqueline’s love for nature inspires her teaching style. As Einstein said ” nature is god”. When we are in tune with the natural world, we are in tune with everything. Jacqueline will inspire you to observe and connect with the elements and forces of nature.  During our exploration of how the elements connect us through the chakra system you will gain a greater understanding and appreciation for the power within and around you.

She followed her heart and decided to set her roots in paradise, where they continue to grow. Mandy is now married to a Tico (aka Costa Rican), and has a magical (almost) 5 year old daughter, as well as 3 equally magical step-daughters.

Mandy has over 15 years of experience in the fitness industry, and has been teaching yoga specifically for over 6 years. Prior to her focus on yoga Mandy worked as a personal trainer for individuals and groups. These days, most of her work life is spent traveling throughout North, Central and South America teaching Children’s Yoga Teacher Trainings in both English and Spanish. She loves teaching grown ups yoga too (but don’t be surprised if she breaks out some kiddie songs to shake things up once in a while!).

Working with people and feeling the connection that can be achieved through a group yoga practice is what keeps Mandy coming back for more retreats. She has a degree in Psychology and also is a certified hypnotherapist. She has always sought ways to help people achieve happiness and health on a fundamental level, and through yoga she is achieving this goal on a daily basis.

Lia Marie

Lia has a gypsy soul and loves to move. She was born and raised amongst the corn stalks in Iowa until she made her escape. She learned her Spanish in Oviedo, Spain then moved to Montezuma, Costa Rica. From 2009-2013, Lia spent many happy and tropical years teaching everything from zumba to aerial acrobatics in Montezuma.

However, Lia’s heart is yoga. In 2011, she started teaching at Anamaya as the in house yoga teacher until 2013. During that time, Lia taught what her certificate calls an “alignment based flow.” This is vinyasa yoga with a firm respect for alignment. Lia believes in the technique of talking over showing. This means that her cues immediately adapt to the students, their needs, and their understanding and is able to talk the students through their movements.

This technique is powerful because it allows the teacher to walk amidst her students and adjust each person individually. Lia does demonstrate during her classes, as well. Lia also taught free yoga classes in the park of Montezuma on Tuesdays and Thursdays. These classes used beach towels instead of yoga mats. In 2013, Lia moved to Portland, Oregon where she taught Yin yoga at Yo Yo Yogi and began her pursuit of a degree in physical therapy.

Continuing that pursuit, Lia is now in Richmond, VA where her practice has shifted from the stillness of Yin to the powerful rhythms of Ashtanga yoga. Lia is greatly looking forward to returning to Anamaya December 17-24, 2016, and maybe even seeing some of her old students!

In the practice Linea teaches you how to do pranayama (breath of fire) correctly with the specific intention to connect deeper with the authentic true Self within & to purify, strengthen and balance the body. In the vibration of safety and belonging, Linea invites each student to receive a strong physical experience and let go and embark on a journey within.

Guest Teacher Paula Tursi

Paula Tursi is the Founder and Director of Reflections Yoga Center and the internationally renowned Reflections Yoga Teacher Training Program. She has been working with alternative healing practices in New York City and internationally for over twenty years. Paula developed Reflections Yoga as a way to integrate what she found most inspiring in other practices with her own personal truth. She began her training at Integral Yoga, where she studied Hatha and restorative Yoga. She went on to work with esteemed teachers such as Angela Farmer and Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen in the art of asana and movement, breath work and meditation. Paula has been voted one of the top ten meditation teacher in NYC.

Paula’s work focuses on the alignment of mind and body, understanding that we move not only from our muscles and joints, but also from the support of our inner body. She is best known for using movement and the process of yoga to move her students past their psychological blocks. She unites spiritual counselling, yoga and meditation as a way to address the person as a whole and deliver them to their highest self

Paula holds a Masters degree in Psychology from Columbia University and a Masters degree in Education from Hunter College. She did her clinical post-graduate training at the Milton H. Erickson Society for Psychotherapy and Hypnosis. Paula conducts biannual Teacher’s Trainings in New York City and Latin America, teaches workshops nationwide and in Europe. She teaches on going classes, holds corporate workshops and offers individual instruction in breath awareness, partner yoga and yoga for body ailments.
The Reflections Yoga Teacher Training program is fully registered at the 200 & 500-hour level with Yoga Alliance.

Movement or asana can start from the inner or outer body. Its been my experience that movement initiated from the inner body considers the body as a whole and can bring health to the deeper systems of the body as well as deliver a person to a subtler sense of self.” Paula Tursi

Life By Design Workshop

In my years of living I came to realize that most people don’t believe they can have the life of their dreams……so they don’t. – Paula Tursi

During this 4 hour workshop we will:
  • Define your soul’s mission; the thing you were meant to do with your life.
  • We will get in touch with what is blocking you from doing it here and now (your demons aka your “I’m not good enough” stories).
  • We will create an action plan and a network to help you bring your mission to reality.

In the Life By Design course we will get in touch with all three so you can create a clear path to the life you should be living while you spend the week resting, relaxing and having fun. The best ingredients to make a long lasting change. Price is $200.

Testimonials
Life design – it’s all in the name. I think sometimes we forget that we are in charge of our own destiny. This course helps re-awaken that dreamer in you and helps you find the tools to make your dream(s) a reality. — Evelyn

I had an enormous breakthrough during the course with Paula. Paula has helped me to see how shame, which is a lie told by others, has been adopted by me as my own belief system and how it made me to feel small and restrained in life. Now that she helped me to become more aware of my negative beliefs and helped me to understand the mechanism behind them, I choose my thoughts and actions more wisely in my daily life. This resulted in better relationships with other people, the feeling of joy, sense of freedom, accepting myself more fully and unconditionally and the courage to pursue my dreams. I highly recommend this course with Paula if you’d like to learn more about yourself and your life patterns and get guided through the process of becoming a more true version of yourself and how to live your life purposefully. Paula is compassionate, fun, gifted and a highly talented teacher. — Tatjana

Anamaya Yoga Center Now Accepting Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies

yoga for bitcoin and cryptocurrency

By Geoff McCabe, co-owner Anamaya Resort

I’m very happy to announce that we’re now going to be accepting bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies at Anamaya, and anyone paying with them will receive a 5% discount!

What’s the big deal about “cryptos”? Everyone is hearing about bitcoin in the news, but what are they really and what do they mean to you?

Well first of all, I think we’re the first yoga center in the world to officially accept them? I checked online and didn’t see any others.

Second this is great because there are no fees to banks, PayPal, Visa, etc. Who doesn’t like NOT paying the banksters, right?

What are cryptocurrencies? Basically they’re a new technology, created BY PEOPLE FOR PEOPLE as a way of taking power away from banks and governments who, for decades (centuries) have used control of money to manipulate and control the public. They start wars and fund both sides, creating debt that’s paid back as taxes. Ordinary people now have the power to fight the system we’ve been stuck with for a long time.

If you don’t have bitcoin or cryptocurrencies and want to start, you can read online and watch videos. In fact, one of the owners, our very own Kelsey Matheson-McCord, has just started a video blog to teach newbies all they need to know, so you can follow along with her.

If you’re ready to pay with cryptos, talk to our team, and you can use one of these addresses to pay:

BTC – Bitcoin: 1MpevKibSiJyCfpMPVSq8v8nqU1gHzv5iZ
ETH – Ether: 0x6F95b679F68f3f24b8b60A4F09A36409357769C8
LTC – Litecoin: Lg5Rvh8romo3gYinzmSVTeEK2aLyAYN9ji

Others? Tell us your favorite and we’ll probably make a wallet for it. Contact [email protected]

Two of Anamaya’s founders are also working on a new cryptocurrency that’s much easier to use than Bitcoin and current ones. If you’re interested in that, visit the website: www.diviproject.org

Guest Teacher Marcela Nunez

Marcela has been a disciplined Yoga student since 1995, when she developed her personal home practice studying with books, videos and the occasional passerby instructor in the small beach town where she lives. Feeling the void of a light-hearted yoga teacher in her area, she got certified in 2009 guided by the knowledge of internationally respected Noah Mazé, Sianna Sherman, Kenny Graham and others who continue to inspire her practice and teachings. She has over 1000 hours of trainings in Anusara Yoga, Ashtanga, Multistyle, Danyasa, Barre and other styles that complement her teacher skills.

Her creative and coherent sequences have the right balance between personal freedom and thoughtful, responsible alignment with emphasis on breathing and attention to muscular integration. Her playful classes are in fluent English/Spanish.

She’s a contagious optimistic who loves nature, music, animals, a healthy lifestyle and sharing the transformational science of yoga, which for her it’s essentially the way to a peaceful and joyous life journey. She truly embodies the Pura Vida (pure lifestyle) spirit that people from Costa Rica live by.

Teaching Philosophy

My yoga teaching philosophy is founded in the premise of practicality. When you can apply what you learned in your practice off the mat; when your practice permeates all areas ?of your material existence and you can use this yoga to listen clearly to your hearts true voice and tap into your inner wisdom…that’s when yoga is real and useful.

Remember that yoga is not just about us, or meditation, or the asanas (physical body shapes). Yoga is the way you are with other people; yoga is honest service (karma yoga) to others, without an attachment to the results; yoga is devotion that strives to see the love and divinity in every creature; yoga is the wisdom that guides you to spiritual liberation.

She believes the combination of discipline and self-reflection can lead to growth, clarity, transformation, and healing. Her intention is to be of service to others and to guide these students to growth and transformation. Her favorite quote by Carl Jung, “He who looks outside, dreams; he who looks inside, awakens”.

Intro to Yin Yoga (90 Min)

Join me in a practice that will open your mind and body slowly and softly.

Heal the body and renew your spirit! Yin yoga is a practice where you hold poses for 3-5 minutes in order to open the energy pathways. Yin improves joint mobility and reestablishes the calm balance that we all need in our over-scheduled and stressful lives.

Yin is a calming, restorative practice that rejuvenates the body. The long, deep holds along with the focus on breathing encourages us to surrender control over our bodies. Yin helps break up the blockages in our connective tissue to create more freedom and movement.

Clear and Balance your Chakras (90 Min)

The seven chakras are the centers in our bodies in which energy flows through. These swirling wheels of energy correspond to massive nerve centers.  Blockages of energy in these centers can cause imbalances in the body and can lead to illness and disease.

Come join me in getting to know these centers of energy with their different qualities and characteristics. Then we will identify the chakras that you wish to open or explore. And lastly, we will learn how to activate these chakras in order to open up the energy lines to restore balance and heal the body.

***Each workshop is $35, or a package for all three is $95
