Guest Yoga Teacher Rony Ghoraishy

Rony Ghoraishy attended her first yoga retreat in Anamaya in November of 2012. She has since returned to Anamaya four times to teach yoga and finds it rewarding to give back the same healing experience she received during her very own retreat. By guiding students not only physically on their mat, but also mentally off their mat, she finds her life’s purpose in service through teaching.

Rony Ghoraishy fell in love with yoga the first time she stepped foot onto her mat fifteen years ago. Yoga is the one thing that makes her feel stable through all of life’s trials and tribulations. She has been teaching yoga for eight years and is E-500 RYT hour certified, in addition to graduating with a degree in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica.

Rony lives in Santa Monica, CA where she specializes in private yoga sessions and leads international retreats. She specializes in teaching Hatha Yoga and Power Yoga, yet finds a balance with teaching Yin/Restorative Yoga and breath work/meditation. Rony has the determination of deepening her understanding of yoga on a physical and spiritual level and shares that knowledge with others, which makes her such a successful and passionate teacher. Rony approaches teaching with the student in mind first and creates connections with them that extend far beyond the mat. She forges relationships with students and revels in both their successes in yoga and in life. Her energy, personality and motivation to challenge people draws in students of all levels. Theming classes, finding appropriate quotes & music, and being an overall inspirational teacher transpires through her. You can find more information about her on her website at

Teaching Philosophy

Rony’s philosophy is and always has been for students to listen to their body and modify poses as needed. Yoga is so much more than just the asana- yoga is about breath, connection to the body, noticing the fluctuations of the mind and overall mindfulness both on and off the mat. The beauty of yoga is that with practice, it teaches to still mind and to draw attention inward. In modern day society the norm is to rush from one task to another without taking the time to reflect inward. Rony’s teaching style and practice safely creates space for students to contemplate a theme and compassionately observe it in a playful yet reflective way.

Inversion Workshop: For many people the thought of going upside down triggers a response of fear. The road to a perfectly balanced headstand is usually paved with a few painless falls along the way, but inversions don’t have to be panic inducing. During the inversion workshop, Rony will break down postures while ensuring her students safety and FUN!

There are many benefits of inversions like Shoulder stand, Headstand, and Forearm Balance. Not only do they strengthen the arms, legs, back and core abdominal muscles, but they also teach us the principle of “drawing into the mid-line,” which helps strengthen the core and can be really helpful for improving standing postures and alleviating any lower back pain. Inversions also help the flow of oxygenated blood to the brain, sensory organs and the face. Learn to get upside down with Rony and have fun during this workshop! This 1-hour workshop is $25, or you can purchase both for $40.

Yoga Cardio Burst Workshop: This workshop is designed to give you a total body workout. It is set to energizing music and designed to tone and sculpt every major muscle group in your body! This workshop complements your regular yoga practice while boosting your metabolism and pushing your strength and flexibility to new heights. Strength-training exercises such as squats, lunges and Plyo-bursts are incorporated to build lean muscle mass and burn major calories. When done regularly, students see quick results in their body! You will walk away from this workshop with a good sweat and only wanting more! This 1-hour workshop is $25, or you can purchase both for $40.
